Alot of times we as humans feel the need to be the best we can, we work so hard for things we want and work extra hard to reach goals we set for ourselves. Only when we fail to reach a deadline, or fail to reach the needs of a goal we set is when we get that horrible feeling of inadequacy. The problem with setting goals and deadlines is that we look forward to that feeling of accomplishment in the future. We do this so much and so extensively were overwhelmed when we actually are in the acts of doing what we need to do, which makes failure so much harder.
James 1:2-4 (NIV) states: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”.
God is a God that is present, He wants us to live in the NOW rather than the future. When we continue to overly plan ahead and think and worry about the the future, we loose focus and sight on everything that God is doing for you NOW!
“The point is to not pretend to be happy when we face pain, but to have a positive outlook (“consider it pure joy”) because of what trials can produce in our lives.” Turn hardships into times of learning! In closing, it is also important to know when your weak in a certain area in your life, one must not continue to act as if everything is okay. Through realization comes wisdom and acceptance, awareness of your inadequacy is a rich blessing.
