Ahhh, pretty soon, I’ll have to find another saying for Fridays, TGIF is getting pretty old to me. However in the mean time, TGIF, I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to this Friday morning. Hope everyone has been safe in the crazy weather.
This morning I’d like to speak on forgiveness, many times, when we hold on to bitterness, anger, resentment, etc, we can end up holding ourselves back from our own blessings. It is very important for us to learn to let go of all kind of despair, for eventually it can cause stress, and even depression.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every for of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ forgave you.
– Ephesians 4:31, 32
I’ll keep this real simple, if God can forgive you, why can we sometimes forgive ourselves? God does not forgive us because we forgive others, but solely because of his great mercy. By growing in God’s word and understanding His mercy, we’ll want to act more like Him, wanting to attain a spirit of forgiveness, not resenting people for their past actions. Those who are unwilling to forgive have not become one with Christ.
So, take heed, that it is in fact hurting you when you don’t forgive, allow yourself to accept God’s mercy and peace over your life. All by saying these words, “I forgive you”. Trust me, especially depending upon the circumstances, it wont always be a easy thing to do, however, God will always guide you. Lastly, and most importantly, as important it is to forgive others, its even more important to forgive yourself. Don’t be the actual cause of not reaping your own blessings, forgive yourself, you deserve that, stop holding resentment against yourself.
I hope this helped at least one person!
Peace & Blessings
