Architects Zaga Hadid and Donovan Hill are working on a joint proposal for Melbourne’s Flinder’s St. Station competition. The goal behind this project is to create a train station along with a multipurpose transportation center, also serving as a landmark for the Melbourne skyline. The design also pays tribute to Melbourne’s historic past.
The centerpiece of the transportation center will become the building’s folding roof, swooping arches and curved beams which make up the interior space will also give the skyline a modern view. Inside, pedestrian pathways have been included to minimize congested foot traffic. Abandoned spaces will become a new event space, with retail spaces, a hotel, and fine dining restaurants, this modern transportation center will be the highlight of Melbourne.
