‘If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without find fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.‘
– James 1:5, 6 (NIV)
By wisdom, James is speaking of the ability to make wise decisions in difficult circumstances. Whenever we need wisdom, we can pray to God and He will generously supply what we need. As Christians, we don’t need to grope around in the dark, hoping to stumble upon answers. We can ask for God’s wisdom to guide our choices.
‘To ‘believe and not doubt’ means not only believing in the existence of God, but also believing in his loving care. It includes relying on God and expecting that he will hear and answer when we prat. God does not grant every thoughtless or selfish request. We must have confidence that God will align out desires with his purposes‘
The scripture describes that it is perfectly imperfect to lack or even not have wisdom. However, scripture also explains and describes the kind of God we serve. The kind, generous, loving, caring and forgiving God we serve, allow him to provide you with one of the most important attributes in this world, wisdom. Trust in him!
Have a great day!
