Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things.
Philippians 4:8 (NIV)
What we put into our minds determines what comes out in our words and actions. We should program our minds with thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. Examine what you are putting in your mind through television, Internet, books, conversations, movies etc. Replace harmful input with wholesome material. Above all, read Gods word and pray. Ask God to help you focus your mind on what is good and pure. It takes practice, but it can be done.
Many times the process of ridding your mind of negativity means ridding your surroundings of anything and anyone who possess negative energy. The power of what we hear and see can deter our thoughts to be clear and pure, causing us to have a negative outlook our situations. As we learn to only focus on only the positive things in life, we will start to witness our thoughts becoming more clear. Studying God’s word will also allow us to maintain a clean, pure, and positive outlook.
